Architectural style

1900s style, with some processed and stylized elements belonging to the eighteenth century French Classicist architecture. Significant for the building’s plastic expression are the stylized composite semicolumns, which mark the aedicule on the left of the main façade.


Ignaz Sándor Kimmel

Kimmel family was a known family in the city – first “well known” Kimmel (who was also named Ignaz – probably the names were traditionally inherited from grandfather to grandson ...) was reported as teacher at the “people’ school in Fabric, in 1784. Afterwards the Kimmels became famous in Timişoara largely because of the spirits factory, which flourished even in the interwar period. Kimmel family had another plot with a villa in Fabric, near the East Railway Station (on that land nowadays stands Zürich Park).

Unfortunately, the end of normality came with the famous Law 119 of June 1948 – namely the nationalization law; we can find Kimmel & Co. I, Timişoara in the Annex-list no. 20 of that law...
