Mercur Palace

f-18-palatul mercur-small

Situated on 2 Traian Square, the palace has the building authorization from June 13, 1908, and housing authorization from April 1, 1909.

The building, whose owner was Béla Fiatska, is also known as the “House with Mercur” (Mercur – Hermes, Mercury), because of the statue that sets out the corner of the building and of the square.

The building’s block corresponds to the 1900s style, the szeceszió movement.

The frontons’ decorations stand out, having flowers whose petals fall in a square, typical for the last phase, the “geometric” one, the most evolved, of the 1900s style.
