House with peacocks

casa cu pauni small

The House with Peacocks or the Romulus Nicolin house is situated on 4, Henry Berthelot St., close to the house with peacocks and owls. The initials (R and N) can be seen on the facade.

The house was built in 7 months, in 1904,  with changes in 1910, and additions in April 14, 1928.
The architect was Martin Gemeinhard).

The appearance of the “House with Peacocks” is typical for architect Gemeinhardt’s visual language of the 1900s style, Art Nouveau.

The wavelike shapes of the plant (the “tree of life” setting out the central axis of the building, various ornamental flowers) and animal (the famous peacocks) elements are distinguished.

Unfortunately, the building’s façade is currently compromised by numerous cables and gas pipelines, which seriously damage the building’s appearance.
